Dear Fellow Pilgrims,

I want to start this mission report by thanking all of you that took the time to send a prayer to the ears of
our Heavenly Father (who dwells in the Sanctuary on high) for our success and protection while on this seafaring mission. Thank
you so much...we had a very safe and successful mission. We did have a few trials but nothing went wrong in the way of safety
and all of the books were distributed.

Just returned from Mexico on Thursday night (Nov 27th) from a sail boat
literature evangelism tour...we gave away 1000 books, 200 English, 800 Spanish
. Kirwin Wong came down and helped us bring the sail boat back from Cabo San Lucas. I was on the boat for an entire month!!
Got sick the first day and prayed for healing from the motion sickness and miraculously the sea became calm and my motion sickness never
returned for the entire trip. Praise God!! HalleluYah!!!

On October 26th, 2008 3 crew members (Ed Crouse, Donna Hamp and I) and Captain Mel Hamp boarded the "Sea
Angel" 42' Catalina Sailing Yacht and departed from US soil along with 141 other sail boats participating in a sail boat race called the Baja Ha-Ha. Leaving the
San Diego Harbor we headed to Turtle Bay, Baja Mexico.
Our first stop in Mexico some 3 days later was in Tortuga Bay (Turtle Bay) where we were greeted by a gentleman on the dock by the name of Miguel (Michael). This cheerful and helpful man guided us through the town and helped us distribute some 200 books walking from house to house.
99% of the people in Mexico are more than happy to receive the books and to our amazement they often begin reading the book immediately upon receiving it. What a contrast to the English speaking population here in the US who flat out reject the book 8 out of 10 times in public distribution efforts. May Father Yah have mercy on our proud American souls is my sincere prayer.

“Iran yesterday signaled its intention to extend its military presence in the world's most important oil conduit, opening a new naval base at the mouth of the Persian Gulf and adding weight to its threats to choke off oil supplies, if the Islamic Republic came under attack.
“The inauguration of the new base at Jask was announced by Iran's naval commander, Admiral Habibullah Sayyari, who said it represented a new line of defense, blocking the entry of the ‘enemy’ into the Persian Gulf and the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, the gateway through which 40% of the world's traded oil passes each day.
“As international tensions have grown over Iran's nuclear program and US allegations of Iranian involvement in Iraq's insurgency, the US has reinforced its naval presence, keeping two aircraft carriers and their battle groups in the Gulf for long periods this year, instead of one. The USS Ronald Reagan and USS Theodore Roosevelt carriers are currently on patrol, and being used for sorties over Iraq.”

The all-consuming apocalyptic violence that will seem positive and even purifying in Tehran appears plainly negative and defiling in both Washington and Jerusalem.”

China Wants the Dollar to Drop Dead

“China pounds the conference table hard for a new currency order. After a first commentary a month earlier, China now shoots straight against Federal Reserve Notes (FRNs), accusing the USA of plundering the world's wealth with its own fiat currency.
“The attack does not stop here. Other, unspecified, currencies urgently need to replace FRns as the world's reserve currency.
“The commentary on the front page of the oversea's print edition of People's Daily had some advice for Asia and Europe as well. In a not too polite style—a far step from traditional Chinese reserve—both economic regions were told they ‘should banish the U.S. dollar from their direct trade relations for a start, relying only on their own currencies.’”

Experts Say Cases of the Diarrhea Bug Are Now in All 50 States

Oct. 30, 2008 (Washington, D.C.)—The nation's epidemic of the nasty superbug Clostridium difficile, or C. diff, will likely get worse before it gets better, says a panel of experts.
“Cases of the potentially dangerous diarrhea bug have now been seen in all 50 states, says L. Clifford McDonald, MD, of the CDC's Division of Healthcare Quality and Promotion. And ‘we haven't hit bottom yet,’ says Lance Peterson, MD, of the Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Research Institute in Illinois.
“Most cases of C. diff occur in people taking antibiotics. Spores enter the body through the mouth, which is the entryway for the gastrointestinal tract. The overgrowth of the C. diff bacteria in the colon, or large intestine, can cause diarrhea, which is often severe and accompanied by intestinal inflammation known as colitis.
“Antibiotics can kill ‘good’ bacteria in the colon that keeps C. diff at bay, explains M. Lindsay Grayson, MD, vice chairman of the committee that chose which studies to highlight at the meeting and an infectious diseases specialist at Austin Health in Melbourne, Australia.”

The Answer is, “NO, NOT YET!”

“I continue to be deluged with questions regarding the present economic crisis. Typically the questions go something like this:

Q. “Charles, for years you have interpreted Daniel’s visions, saying the United States and Great Britain would be angered by some overt act on the part of Iran. With fury, the U.S. with Great Britain will then go to war with Iran. Shortly thereafter, if not immediately thereafter, the U.S. economy will totally collapse, taking the entire global financial house down.

“It sure appears that the present U.S.-led economic collapse is going to climax before a possible war with Iran. Don’t you agree?”

A. NO! I stand with the order of events as given in God’s Word! Daniel’s visions (chapters 7 & 8) are consistent in presenting the order of events—there will be WAR between the “Rough goat from the West” coming against “the 2nd, higher horn of the Ram, IRAN”—THEN, a total economic collapse will bring America to its knees (a spiritual blessing in disguise?) and shake the whole world!

I can only believe that war with Iran is inches away. Personally, I believe seven (7) years of incredible misery are just ahead, for America first, and then the whole world.

WWWIII has already begun. It will climax in Armageddon…

We are watching the global economy unravel. The financial world is gasping for breath. But if I read and interpret the prophecies correctly, there could yet be a dramatic turn upward in the global financial picture. It will appear that world leaders are taking control of the situation and will unitedly proclaim: “PEACE AND SAFETY (Greek: prosperity),

“THEN SUDDEN DESTRUCTION (Greek: ruin) COMETH UPON THEM, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.” 1Thessalonians 5:3.

Don’t miss it—“travail upon a woman with child” is the exact metaphor Jesus used when his disciples questioned him, “How can we know when the time comes?”!!

PREPARE NOW, RIGHT NOW, before the storm actually arrives. Store shelves will soon be empty! Banks will soon hesitate or refuse to honor your request to withdraw your own money!

Do not be fooled by talks of peace. (1) Any mention now in the news of Shia cleric, Muqtada al-Sadr, proxy for Iran within Iraq; (2) any mention of the city of Basrah in southern Iraq; (3) any threatening speech against Israel by President Ahmadinejad of Iran; (4) any sudden increase in hostilities by Hezbollah from Lebanon or Hamas in Gaza, against Israel—any of these signs could be ominous.

Could these events take place before the election? Will they occur before President Bush leaves the White House in January? Will they come, as Senator Joe Biden warns, in the first 6 months of the new Presidency? Only Heaven knows, I surely do not, but I am measuring each day now in “inches…”

Global Financial Summits Planned

“President Bush announced plans yesterday to host an emergency summit of leaders from the world's top economies to map out a response to the global financial crisis, urging a renewed effort to secure the basis of ‘democratic capitalism.’

“The objectives set for the summit are every bit as far-reaching as those of the 1944 landmark meeting in Bretton Woods, N.H., attended by 44 Allied nations to remake the global financial system after the Great Depression.

“The agenda would address a wide range of challenges such as increasing the transparency of markets, revising the rules that govern the flow of investment around the world and improving oversight of big banks, ratings agencies and hedge funds, a senior White House official said. Bush warned, however, that these reforms should not come at the expense of free markets.

“Any initiatives that come out of the summit would do little to ease the immediate situation as the meltdown in financial markets takes its increasing toll on livelihoods and living conditions. But the conclave could give Bush a chance to put his stamp on the global financial system before his term runs out.

“A joint statement issued after a meeting of Bush, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and European Commission President José Manuel Barroso at Camp David said the European Union, France and the United States had agreed to hold ‘a series of summits on addressing the challenges facing the global economy,’ starting with one in the United States ‘soon after the U.S. elections.’”

What to Learn From the 2008 Meltdown

Meanwhile, Franklin Raines at Fannie Mae made nearly twice that sum in bonuses—leaving behind nothing much at all other than billions in other peoples' debts.”

Will Russia-Ukraine be Europe's Next War?

“Russia has been distributing thousands of Russian passports to supporters in the Crimea. The plan is to replicate what was done in South Ossetia and Abkhazia: Create a pretext to send in Russian ‘peacekeepers’ to protect supposedly endangered Russian ‘citizens.’

“But Ukraine is not Georgia; it is a large, militarily powerful country with long memories of Russian domination. Any attempt at partition by Moscow would be met by fierce resistance. It would spark a bloody Russo-Ukrainian war. This would inevitably drag in Poland and the Baltic States—all of which are members of NATO. Mr. Putin's bellicose nationalism threatens to ignite a European conflagration.”

For those who have asked me how bad things are in Orissa (India), I am sending this update from one Organization working there. These things are not happening to us, at least not yet, but they will be coming, to all of us eventually!

“We have never seen anything like this. We knew that Orissa was the most resistant and hostile State in India as far as the Gospel is concerned. And we brushed off the continuous threats and harassment we faced as we went about His work. But none of our staff imagined that they would see this kind of carnage…. And it seems to be totally under the radar of the Western Media…. Let me explain…. A militant Hindu priest and 4 of his attendants, who were zealously going around the villages of Orissa and 'reconverting' people back to Hinduism, were gunned down by unknown assailants in Central Orissa last weekend. Immediately the Christians were blamed. The cry rose up…'Kill the Christians!' And the horror began…. In the past 4 days, we have first hand witness to hundreds of churches being blown u p or burned and many, many dozens of Christian tribes have been slaughtered. For no other reason than they bear the name of Christ.

“Night and day I have been in touch with our Good News India Directors spread across 14 Dream Centers in Orissa…they are right in the middle of all this chaos. In Tihidi, just after the police came to offer protection, a group of 70 blood-thirsty militants came to kill our staff and destroy the home. They were not allowed to get in, but they did a lot of damage to our Dream Center by throwing rocks and bricks and smashing our gate, etc. They have promised to come back and 'finish the job.' Our kids and staff are locked inside and have stayed that way with doors and windows shut for the past 3 days. It has been a time of desperately calling on the Lord in prayer.

“More police have come to offer protection. In Kalahandi, the police and some local sympathizers got to our dream center and gave our staff and kids about 3 minutes notice to vacate. No one had time to even grab a change of clothes or any personal belonging. As they fled, the blood-thirsty mob came to kill everyone in the building. We would have had a mass funeral there, but for His grace. In Phulbani, the mob came looking for Christian homes and missions. The local Hindu people, our neighbors turned them away by saying that there were no Christians in this area. So they left. We had favor. The same thing happened in Balasore.

“All our dream centers are under lock down with the kids and staff huddled inside and police outside. The fanatics are circling outside waiting for a chance to kill. Others were not so fortunate. In a nearby Catholic orphanage, the mob allowed the kids to leave and locked up a Priest and a computer teacher in house and burned them to death. Many believers have been killed and hacked into pieces and left on the road….even women and children.

“At another orphanage run by another organization, when this began, the Director and his wife jumped on their motorbike and simply fled, leaving all the children and staff behind. Every one of our GNI directors that I have spoken to said: 'We stay with our kids…we live together or die together, but we will never abandon what God has called us to do.' More than 5000 Christian families have had their homes burned or destroyed. They have fled into the jungles and are living in great fear waiting for the authorities to bring about peace. But so far, no peace is foreseen.

“This will continue for another 10 days…supposedly the 14 day mourning period for the slain Hindu priest. Many more Christians will die and their houses destroyed. Many more churches will be smashed down. The Federal government is trying to restore order and perhaps things will calm down. We ask for your prayers. Only the Hand of God can calm this storm. None of us know the meaning of persecution. But now our kids and staff know what that means. So many of our kids coming from Hindu backgrounds are confused and totally bewildered at what is happening around them. So many of their guardians have fled into the jungles and are unable to come and get them during these trying times.

“Through all this, I am more determined than ever to continue with our goal: the transformation of a community by transforming its children. Orissa will be saved…that is our heart's cry. If we can take these thousands of throw-away children and help them to become disciples of Jesus, they will transform an entire region. It is a long-term goal, but it is strategic thinking in terms of the Great Commission.

“What can you do? First, please uphold all this in fervent prayer. Second, pass this email on to as many friends as you can. We must get the word out and increase our prayer base for this is spiritual warfare at its most basic meaning. We are literally fighting the devil in order to live for His Kingdom. The next 10 days are crucial. We pray for peace and calm to pervade across Orissa. Thank you for taking the time to read this. US Intelligence: Iran Will Be Able to Build First Nuclear Bomb by February 2009

“US intelligence’s amended estimate, that Iran will be ready to build its first bomb just one month after the next US president is sworn in, is disclosed by DEBKAfile’s Washington sources as having been relayed as a guideline to the Middle East teams of both presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama.

“The information prompted the assertion by Democratic vice presidential nominee Joseph Biden in Seattle Sunday, Oct. 19: ‘It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy.’

“US intelligence believes Tehran has the personnel, plans and diagrams for a bomb and has been running experiments to this end for the past two years. The UN International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna last week asked Tehran to clarify recent complex experiments they conducted in detonating nuclear materials for a weapon, but received no answer.

“The same US evaluation adds that the Iranian leadership is holding off its go-ahead to start building the bomb until the last minute so as to ward off international pressure to stop at the red line.”

Worst Slump Since Great Depression

“The warning underlines the fact that policymakers have failed to prevent the financial crisis from turning into a full-blown economic slump. It comes as world leaders agreed to hold a summit in New York billed as the ‘Bretton Woods meeting for the 21st century.’

“In its major assessment of the global economy’s health, Deutsche Bank also warned that Britain is even more vulnerable than the US or the euro area, as it predicted that the powerhouses of India and China would fail to support the wider global economy through the downturn.

“The banks’ economists Thomas Mayer and Peter Hooper said: ‘We now expect a major recession for the world economy over the year ahead, with growth in the industrial countries falling to its lowest level since the Great Depression and global growth falling to 1.2pc, its lowest level since the severe downturn of the early 1980s.”

“Consumers are increasingly unable to pay off their credit cards, forcing banks to hoard cash to protect against future losses and lend to fewer people, according to reports yesterday from several of the nation's largest banks.

“These financial disclosures showed a spike in credit card loans going bad, putting further pressure on already-stressed balance sheets. J.P.Morgan Chase said the number of credit card loans in default rose 45 percent in the third quarter from the comparable period a year ago and predicted that default rates would sharply accelerate through 2009, with 7 percent of credit card loans going bad.

Letters of Credit: Going, Going Gone?

“Just as the business world is dependent upon commercial paper as its life blood, the world of global trade depends on letters of credit (LOC). Without LOCs, the world of trade quickly freezes up.

“If you are a manufacturer of a product and want to sell to someone outside your borders, you typically require a letter of credit from the buyer before you load any cargo at a port. A letter of credit from a prime bank is considered to be proof of your ability to pay. It not only can be a source of ultimate payment, it can be a source of inventory financing while goods are in transit.

“And if you are a business which is buying a product, you do not want to release money until you know the product is on the way. There are buyer's and seller's agents who make sure these things happen seamlessly, and world commerce had grown because of it.

“Now we are starting to get anecdotal evidence that this extremely vital market is also freezing up. If you think the problems stemming from a meltdown with the commercial paper markets are threatening to the world economy, they are small potatoes when compared to a seizure in the letter of credit markets.

“The credit crisis is spilling over into the grain industry as international buyers find themselves unable to come up with payment, forcing sellers to shoulder often substantial losses.

“Before cargoes can be loaded at port, buyers typically must produce proof they are good for the money. But more deals are falling through as sellers decide they don't trust the financial institution named in the buyer's letter of credit, analysts said.

“‘There are all kinds of stuff stacked up on docks right now that can't be shipped because people can't get letters of credit,’ said Bill Gary, president of Commodity Information Systems in Oklahoma City. ‘The problem is not demand, and it's not supply because we have plenty of supply. It's finding anyone who can come up with the credit to buy.’

“So far the problem is mostly being felt in U.S. and South American ports, but observers say it is only a matter of time before it hits Canada. ‘We've got a nightmare in front of us and a lot of people are concerned it's going to get a lot worse,’ said Anthony Temple, a grain marketing expert based in Vancouver.”

Icelandic Shipper Splurge as Currency Woes Reduce Food Imports

Many banks won't trade the krona and suppliers from abroad are demanding payment in advance. The government has asked banks to prioritize foreign currency transactions for essentials such as food, drugs and oil.

“The crisis is already hitting clothing retailers. A short walk from Bonus in the capital's Kringlan shopping center, Ragnhildur Anna Jonsdottir, 38, owner of the Next Plc clothing store, said she can't get any foreign currency to pay for incoming shipments and, even if she could, the exchange rate would be prohibitively high.

Now, the three biggest banks, Kaupthing Bank hf, Landsbanki Island hf and Glitnir Bank hf have collapsed under the weight of about $61 billion in debts, 12 times the size of the economy, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

“The International Monetary Fund sent a delegation to the island last week. Prime Minister Geir Haarde said on Oct. 9 his country may ask it for money after failing to get ‘the response that we felt that we should be able to get'’ from European governments and central banks. The state will also start talks with Russia over a possible 4 billion-euro ($5.5 billion) loan.

“The days surrounding Sept. 11, 2008, will go down in infamy. The speed at which so many of America’s most prestigious financial institutions collapsed should be etched into the hearts and minds of the American populace—because, whether people want to admit it or not, that disastrous, gut-wrenching, sobering week represented a drastic turning point in U.S. financial hegemony.

“What remains is a gaping crater in the nation’s now-discredited economic core.

“On Friday, September 12, America’s fourth-largest investment bank began to fail, it was the largest corporate bankruptcy in the history of the world. Global stock markets plunged. The Dow Jones took its biggest single-day fall since the morning, seven years before, when two airliners slammed into the World Trade Center in the heart of New York’s financial district.

“After emergency closed-door meetings hosted by the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department that weekend, it was announced that Merrill Lynch, another ailing Wall Street giant, would also cease to exist as an independent company.

“American International Group (aig), the largest insurance company in the world, had failed to secure funding to cover its multibillion-dollar losses, the situation became so dire that the Federal Reserve announced it would purchase 80 percent of the company to keep it functioning.

“All of these seismic events occurred in the immediate aftermath of perhaps the biggest shock of all. On Monday, September 8, the U.S. government announced the $5.2 trillion nationalization of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac—the largest corporate seizure in the history of finance.

“In hindsight, the week surrounding Sept. 11, 2008, may prove to be a turning point no less significant than the one that occurred seven years before.

“It was a stark, blaring announcement to the world that the American economic system has passed the point of no return.

“The September 11 weekend saw some of the most intensive banker activity in history.

“The agenda was clear: to determine how to save their own skins and halt the financial collapse before the U.S. banking system completely broke down.

Beyond Fixable

“The crisis facing America is unprecedented. But it is not the fact that a couple of banks have failed that is causing worry.

“‘There’s a serious banking crisis somewhere in the world approximately once every 10 years,’ wrote Jeremy Warner for the New Zealand Herald (August 5). Then, every three or four decades, there is a really big one like the Great Depression, or the stock market crash of 1973-74, which saw the Dow plunge 45 percent.

“The worry this time is that what is occurring is far bigger—a once-in-an-80-or-100-years-type event—or worse.

“Economist and university professor Nouriel Roubini—a man Barron’s once compared to the Prophet Jeremiah, whose warnings to ancient Israel went unheeded—is warning that the worst is still ahead.

“According to Roubini, a recession is about to help kill off hundreds of banks. Looking at America’s ‘medium-sized regional banks, a good third are in distress,’ and half of the group could go bankrupt, he told Barron’s. He also warned that big banks like Citigroup and Bank of America face collapse too.

“The U.S. banking crisis could now be nearing critical mass: where it starts feeding on itself. Bankers are losing the ability to stop it, as the collapses of Lehman, Merrill and aig prove. Bank failures lead to losses at other institutions, many of which are already financially unstable, causing more asset fire sales and markdowns, and more stress to the system. Thus, other banks fail, and the cycle feeds on itself.

“‘The entire Anglosphere bank and economic systems are imploding,’ Hat Trick Letter author Jim Willie wrote. ‘The United States, the United Kingdom … Ireland, Australia and New Zealand are suffering from critically wounded banking systems, led by housing markets’ (August 7). Canada is not much better off.

“The stage is set for the biggest financial calamity in history.

“The Treasury Department and Federal Reserve are sure to implement a number of ingenious-sounding fixes. Unfortunately, any patch that regulators may put together at this point is like putting a band-aid on a wound that requires intensive surgery. It might hold a cut together for a while—it might buy the patient some time—but it does nothing about the internal bleeding. The economic system is dying.”

“In terms of American domestic politics, the road to war with Tehran was paved long ago: both major parties and their presidential candidates have given the War Party a green light to strike Tehran, McCain explicitly and Obama tacitly, albeit no less firmly.

“The stage is set, rehearsals are over, and the actors know their lines: as the curtain goes up on the first act of "World War III," take a deep breath and pray to the gods that this deadly drama is aborted.”

Bernanke, laid out the potentially devastating ramifications of the financial crisis before congressional leaders on Thursday night, there was a stunned silence at first.’ Later in the piece, it mentions: ‘...the congressional leaders were told “that we’re literally maybe days away from a complete meltdown of our financial system, with all the implications here at home and globally.”’

“I predict that the markets will be in rollercoaster mode for the foreseeable future, with news stories and government pronouncements precipitating some huge swings. At this juncture I think that I should repeat some thoughts that I posted back in March of this year, since our newest readers probably missed it. This was posted back when I first started warning in earnest about the Mother of All Bailouts (MOAB). As you'll see, most of my predictions were correct.

“These macro-level implications might seem fairly abstract, so let me put them in real world terms and take the risk of extrapolating on some trends that I've observed: There will be a recession, and it will be deep, and long-lasting. A recession will mean that there will be some big corporate layoffs. Be ready. There will be bank runs and banking ‘holidays’. Be ready. There will be huge flows of ‘bailout’ funds that will effectively nationalize many industries. Be ready. There will probably be a stock market collapse. Be ready. There will be a further collapse in residential real estate that will make the recent declines seem small, by comparison. Be ready. Credit delinquencies and foreclosures (on car loans, home loans, credit card bills, etc.) will dramatically increase. Be ready. There will be a collapse of the commercial real estate market. Even though the credit available for IPOs and private mergers and acquisitions has dried up, there will be news of some large and seemingly inexplicable acquisitions in the near future, all sanctioned by and in some cases, underwritten by, and even funded by, the Federal government. Be ready. There will be shortages of key commodities including fuel and food. Be ready. Strapped for cash, America's highway, rail, water, sewer, telecommunications, and power infrastructures will degenerate. Be ready. There will be mass inflation of the US Dollar that will devalue any dollar denominated investments. Be ready.

“And now, to further extrapolate, (with a lower level of confidence): All of the aforementioned economic dislocation and surging inflation might trigger mass protests, riots, looting, and arson in the cities. Be ready. There may then be massive out-migration from the cities. Be ready. Wars have been known to follow close on the heels of depressions and financial crises, so there may be a war, possibly big enough to require another draft. Be ready.

“As I've written many times before, the real lynchpin to worry about is the power grid. If the grid goes down, then all bets are off. Be vigilant, be well-stocked with a deep larder, and be self-sufficient. Store extra for charity. If you can afford to, establish a survival retreat in a lightly-populated region, and if possible, live there year-round.

Expert Reveals Possible Prime Targets of Terrorism

“Four terrorists driving minivans approach four oil refineries: The Royal Dutch Shell installation at Port Arthur, Texas; the Valero Energy refinery at Corpus Christi, Texas; the Chalmette refinery east of New Orleans; and the Chevron refinery at Pascagoula, Miss. They crash through the gates and aim for the key catalytic units used to refine petroleum. The crashes set off more than 500 pounds of dynamite in each van. Eleven workers die in the initial attacks and six more perish in the infernos that send plumes of dark smoke miles into the sky. Even before the flames can be extinguished, the price of oil skyrockets to more than $200 a barrel. The president declares a state of emergency and dispatches National Guard units to protect key infrastructure.

“Casualties: 17 dead, 34 wounded.

“Consequences: In a single day, America loses 15 percent of its crude-oil processing capability for more than a year. The Federal Reserve slashes the prime rate by a full point in a desperate attempt to avert a recession, as gas prices balloon. Critics bemoan the fact that, for decades, the United States neglected development of its “dirty” oil-processing infrastructure—and now it's too late. Total economic cost: $1.2 trillion.

“The North American power grid has a dark secret: Of the 10,000 power substations, a loss of only 4 percent will disconnect more than 60 percent of the entire grid. In 12 hours, by downing just four lines, more than 60 percent of North America is without power. Power is lost from Knoxville, Tenn., to Nevada, and north to the Canadian border.

“Casualties: Other than the suicide bombers, there are no direct casualties. But patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and even private homes on respirators and other life-saving devices begin to expire. The indirect death toll starts to climb rapidly. Based on previous blackouts, 100 to 300 deaths are likely. Stop lights don't work, gas stations can't pump fuel, and civil disturbances occur as crowds waiting in lines to receive ice grow restless. The president considers requesting help from the National Guard to maintain order.

“Consequences: Nearly 200 million people are affected, and infrastructure damage could take several months to repair. At best, the economic impact easily could top $100 billion.

“It is Dec. 1, and families across the U.S. are packing in a last Saturday of vacation fun before returning home to spend Christmas with relatives. In Anaheim, Calif., two recently hired Disneyland employees stand back-to-back and begin firing AK-47s into the crowd. To avoid detection, they smuggled the weapons into work, a few pieces at a time during the past few weeks, and reassembled them. Similar attacks take place simultaneously at Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld in Orlando, and at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

“Casualties: Before security personnel kill the attackers, 84 vacationers lie dead and another 103 are wounded.

“Consequences: Its icons of innocence smashed, America loses hope of life returning to how it once was. Theme parks across the country lose an average of 10 percent of their business for the next year, an impact of about $1.25 billion. With many Americans afraid to resume normal lives, the economy teeters on the brink of recession.

• Destroy Tennessee Valley Authority dams…

Impact: High

“The Douglas Dam stretches 1,705 feet across the Tennessee River northeast of Knoxville. The Norris Dam spans 1,860 feet across the Clinch River northwest of the city. On May 10, 2009, with water levels at their annual peak, a bomb far below the water line cracks the Norris Dam. An hour later, the Douglas Dam is hit. Both structures give way, and the water backed up behind them easily sweeps away the smaller dams at Melton Hill and Fort Loudon. About 2.1 million acre-feet of water cascade down the Tennessee Valley, sweeping away just about everything in its path. The flood plows into the Watts Bar Dam, then the Chickamauga, the Nickajack, and on down the Tennessee River. The Watts Bar and Sequoyah nuclear power plants are flooded. Debris pours out of reservoirs, flooding Chattanooga as the crest passes. No trace is ever found of the terrorists who set the bombs.

“Casualties: An early alert that the dams were failing surprisingly holds the deaths to 43 people.

“Consequences: Damage to the Chattanooga area is estimated at $5 billion. Luckily, there are no radiation leaks from the nuclear plants, but all the secondary hardware outside the containment vessels is destroyed. About 20 percent of the TVA’s power-generating capacity will be out of commission for at least a year, with repair costs for power facilities alone expected to run at least $2 billion. During the next five years, the Tennessee Valley will incur about $1 billion in flood damage the lost dams would have prevented. Cost to replace them: at least $25 billion.

• Explode liquefied natural gas tanker and storage depot near Boston…

“A four-seat Cessna 172 takes off from Hanscom Field in Bedford, Mass., and turns southeast. In minutes, it passes over downtown Boston and arrives above the Distrigas liquefied natural gas depot on the far side of the Mystic River, in Everett. The small craft dives at a tanker that is unloading almost 40 million gallons of liquefied natural gas. On impact, a detonator sets off 250 pounds of explosives in the plane’s back seat. An explosion with the power of more than 50 Hiroshima bombs destroys the entire storage depot. Boston’s North End simply ceases to exist, along with parts of Chelsea, Everett, and Somerville.

“Casualties: Nearly everyone within a half-mile of the terminal dies; at 1 mile, the toll averages 75 percent. An estimated 197,525 people are lost, with thousands more injured.

“Consequences: Severe damage stretches for 2 miles in each direction. Several billion dollars worth of property is lost, including Boston City Hall and the Faneuil Market tourist area. The catastrophe dwarfs Hurricane Katrina by comparison. Lacking natural gas for heat, nearly 300 elderly residents die of cold during the winter. The tourists stop coming, businesses fail, and pundits sadly remark that Boston may never again be the city it once was.

• Cruise the East Coast, releasing anthrax…

Impact: High

“On a night with a brisk easterly wind, two young men who had entered the country from Canada at Portal, N.D., drive from Boston to Washington, D.C. Opening the rooftop vent of their rust-bucket van, they fasten a dryer vent hose into it. Using a small air compressor and a funnel, they send anthrax spores into the wind. They have smuggled in only a small fraction of the weaponized anthrax stolen in Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein. But it will be enough. Driving through every rest area, with detours through downtown Hartford, New Haven, New York, Trenton, Philadelphia, and Wilmington, they finally arrive in Washington. Parking at the Iwo Jima memorial, they distribute the last of the anthrax and walk off. Throughout the Northeast, the health-care system soon collapses under the needs of the dying.

Casualties: Almost 1.6 million people up to 40 miles downwind from Interstate 95 could be affected, according to 2003 Pentagon reports. At least 95 percent of those who inhale the spores will die, even with treatment.

Consequences: Based on the 2001 anthrax scare, this scenario could make substantial areas of the Northeast unlivable for the years it will take to decontaminate an area of more than 20,000 square miles. Cleanup and medical costs could reach $1.4 trillion.

• Detonate EMP bombs in the Internet-critical region of Northern Virginia…

Impact: High

“EMP means “electromagnetic pulse,” a blast of radio energy so strong it fries electronic equipment. Set off an atomic bomb at an altitude of 30,000 feet, and there won’t be a computer working for miles around. But the terrorists who strike Northern Virginia on 9/11 in 2010 do not need a nuclear weapon to shut down the region’s computers. Instead, they use homemade EMP generator-bombs that any good engineering student can build with $400 and information from the Internet. They detonate nine bombs in a triangle stretching from McLean west to Dulles International Airport and south to Chantilly. The blasts take down communications and navigation equipment at Dulles, some of the less critical computers at CIA headquarters in Langley, and data centers that carry some 40 percent of the world’s Internet traffic. With police unable to use modern communications, the terrorists escape and leave the country. It is eight months before they are identified. Two years later, only one of the six-member team has been captured. A similar bomb, detonated near Wall Street, would be a ‘weapon of mass disruption,’ bringing chaos to the world’s financial center.

“Casualties: None directly. In Northern Virginia-area hospitals, 17 patients die in part because their computerized monitors no longer operate properly. Another 14 may have died when their pacemakers delivered massive shocks to the heart and then ceased working. And the chaos has just begun.

“Consequences: Dulles-bound aircraft are diverted for three days until replacement gear can be brought in. About 40 percent of the world’s Internet traffic flowed through this part of Northern Virginia. Losing that capacity slows the Internet to a crawl, which complicates military, emergency, and intelligence response. Most of the 175,000 people employed in IT-intensive region will be out of work for at least a year. Repairing the electronic infrastructure will cost an estimated $40 billion. Businesses across the United States lose an additional $2 billion a month because of the loss of Internet service.

• Introduce E. coli into fast-food restaurants on Wall Street and Capitol Hill…

“After a costly E. coli outbreak, one major fast-food chain announces that it will start testing lettuce on the farm. Another touts its program for preventing food-borne illnesses. Neither grasps the obvious, that their people are the weakest link: food preparation and delivery. Staff turns over rapidly, and it doesn’t take long to plant “sleepers” in more than a dozen fast-food outlets near Wall Street and the four within half a mile of Capitol Hill. One Wednesday morning, they start misting lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and even buns with a spray containing E. coli.

“Casualties: With the three- to eight-day incubation period, which masks the attack and puts the initial response over a weekend, five days’ worth of customers are sickened, more than 13,500 in all. At least 142 people die, many of them children and elderly.

“Consequences: Lawsuits filed against the chains demand a total of $250 billion in damages. They will not be settled for years. Even more costly: Fast-food hamburger orders drop by 27 percent, on average, throughout the industry for the first six months after the incident, resulting in a loss of about $57.5 billion in revenue.

• Introduce nerve gas into air intakes of crowded public buildings…

“A terrorist gets a low-level job servicing heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment for a contractor in Manhattan. His work takes him to important buildings: Madison Square Garden, where Andrea Bocelli is in concert; and to Carnegie Hall, where Reinbert de Leeuw is conducting students from Julliard and the Weill Institute of Music. Also on his route: the studios and offices of ABC, CBS, and DowJones. Hidden in his thermos is odorless sarin nerve gas, frozen into ice cubes. All he has to do is leave the ice inside each building’s ventilation units, which he sets to “recycle” instead of drawing in fresh air from outside. As he escapes to New Jersey, the ice melts and the deadly gas spreads through each building. Other terrorists drop vials of pungent mercaptan, to simulate a natural gas leak, throughout Battery Park and South Street Seaport. This distracts police and emergency crews for hours. Chaos reigns in New York City.

“Casualties: Two-thirds of the 15,000 people in Madison Square Garden are seriously ill, and 2,851 die. At Carnegie Hall, all 600 people are sick, and 127 die. The office buildings are hit during the night shift and add 86 more deaths.

“Consequences: People are terrified. Tourism and event attendance drop precipitously across the country. New York City alone loses $500 million in wages and taxes for every 1 percent decline in visitor spending. The entire hospitality industry in New York hovers on the brink of collapse.”

“As the United States collapses under a mountain of debt worth trillions, another Wall Street investment bank struggles to stay afloat and global economies start to crumble—the Bay Street guru who warned oil would skyrocket to US$200 a barrel has suddenly changed his tune.

“Yesterday, even as OPEC announced it would reduce output by 520,000 barrels a day, prices kept gyrating their way down, with light, sweet crude for October delivery falling 68 cents to $102.58 a barrel in New York—its lowest level since April 1.

“But don't expect a break at the gas pumps. Prices in the GTA today will be up 1.6 cents to $1.237 a litre for self-serve, regular—while in his Rip-Off Alert Liberal MP Dan McTeague warns major refiners and marketers are now charging 10 cents more than the U.S. wholesale price for gasoline.

“The commodities freefall has hit markets hard, with Bay Street's S&P/TSX index on a losing streak since the first of September, losing more than 1,600 points. But yesterday, markets rebounded sharply—after Wall Street heavy hitter Lehman Brothers, in a desperate bid to survive after losing almost $4 billion US in the third quarter, said it would sell a majority stake in its prized investment management business. It didn't even rule out a sale of the entire company, after recently cutting 1,500 jobs.

“So far this year, the 158-year-old investment bank has lost $6.5 billion US, which CEO Richard Fuld describes as ‘one of the toughest periods in the firm's history.’

“Meanwhile, the European Union slashed its economic growth outlook, now admitting that Germany, Spain and Britain have suffered brief recessions. In fact, the euro zone's GDP shrank between April and June, the first quarter of negative growth since the currency bloc was created in 1999.

“And the subprime fallout continues, with Washington Mutual Inc. stock losing 30% of its value yesterday sinking to its lowest level in 17 years.

“With U.S. debt at $9.6 trillion and growing by billions by the second with the war machine and continuous bailouts, a financial Armageddon is in the works.

“Like I said, find that cave and hide.”

“In the wake of Lehman's demise, Fed Chairman Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Paulson will try to put out the word that it's no great trauma.

“But it's a lie and they know it. If they openly admitted that the Lehman collapse will paralyze Wall Street, torpedo the stock market and sink the economy, they'd have to pony up $100 billion or more to support it. Instead, their agenda was to push big banks to put up the money. And they failed to do so.

“No matter what, there's no denying that the Lehman debacle is a massive and immediate threat to U.S. and global markets. At the latest reckoning, Lehman had $691 billion in assets. That makes it bigger than Wachovia, twice as big as Washington Mutual, and over sixteen times larger than Schwab.

“In fact, among brokers, there are only two other U.S. firms that beat Lehman in the debt category: Morgan Stanley, with $1 trillion, and Merrill Lynch, with $988 billion.

“The reality: The collapse of America's third-largest brokerage operation is very serious business with equally serious consequences. The primary concern…

“Washington Mutual to its CEO: Pack up your desk. You’re FIRED! Kerry Killinger, the CEO responsible for nearly bankrupting the bank was canned yesterday. At almost the same time, WaMu took the first step towards failure, filing a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Office of Thrift Supervision.

“Unsurprisingly, Washington Mutual stock plunged, bringing its total losses for the year to 70% of its market value.

“Wachovia admits to bigger woes in its $122 billion options ARMs portfolio. In a shocking revelation, Wachovia announced that 23,600 of its loans are going bad, and a whopping two-thirds of borrowers with options ARMs are opting not to pay the interest and principal due each month. To survive, lenders are rejecting loan applications like there’s no tomorrow and killing sales at thousands of companies nationwide.

“In response to the hammering they’re taking, U.S. banks are raising interest rates, pulling credit lines, and slashing credit limits for even well-heeled credit card customers.

“As a result, borrowing by U.S. consumers is falling off a cliff. The rate of credit growth in America just cratered 92% in a single month from 6.1% in June to a mere .5% in July.

“A major problem area: Auto loans. The number of new auto loans granted to consumers cratered 17% in the second quarter. Capital One lost $150 million on auto loan defaults in the last quarter alone. Sovereign Bancorp and HSBC have closed their auto lending operations altogether.

“Now, with auto sales at their lowest levels since 1992, 16 long years ago, GM, Ford and Chrysler have gone to Congress, hats in hand, begging for $50 billion to survive this crisis.

“That’s more than 33 times the $1.5 billion Washington spent to bail out Chrysler in the 1970s. Meanwhile, the credit drought is also causing earnings to dry up in other industries that rely on credit cards, revolving charges and standard loans to finance customer’s purchases.

“The airlines and the entire travel industry is bleeding. Home improvement, furniture and appliance retailers are being squeezed without mercy. High-end department stores, electronics retailers and every company that manufactures, transports and wholesales these products are watching sales and profits evaporate.

“Put simply, the plague of financial disasters we’ve seen so far is now becoming a pandemic infecting sector after sector, company after company.

“It’s setting many of Wall Street’s most widely held stocks up for the same kinds of massive losses that, until now, have been limited to financial stocks.

“Our analysis: The next phase of this great credit contagion is now upon us. It is absolutely crucial that you take action now to protect yourself.”

“While the rest of the pundits opine about the meaning and implications of Sarah Palin's ascension from small town mayor to prospective vice president—and whether or not her daughter's private life is fair game for any media outlet other than the National Enquirer—those of us whose job it is to stand watch on the ramparts and report the real news are wondering when—not if—the War Party will pull a rabbit out of the proverbial hat. For months, I've been warning in this space that an American attack on Iran is imminent, and now I see that the Dutch have reason to agree with my assessment. Their intelligence service reportedly has pulled out of a covert operation inside Iran on the grounds that a U.S. strike is right around the corner—in ‘a matter of weeks,’ according to De Telegraaf, a Dutch newspaper.

“As the story goes, the Dutch had infiltrated the purported Iranian weapons project and were firmly ensconced when they got word that the Americans are about to launch a missile attack on Iranian nuclear facilities. They wisely decided to close down the operation and pull out.

“Remember, the Israelis have been threatening to strike on their own for months: what's changed is that now, apparently, the U.S. has caved in to what is a blatant case of blackmail and has agreed to do the job for them.

“We haven't heard much about Iran lately, at least compared to the scare headlines of a few months ago, when rumors of war were swirling fast and furious. The Russian ‘threat’ seems to have replaced the Iranian "threat" as the War Party's bogeyman of choice. What we didn't know, however, is that the two focal points are intimately related.

“According to this report by veteran Washington Times correspondent Arnaud de Borchgrave, the close cooperation of the Israelis with the Georgian military in the run-up to President Saakashvili's blitz of South Ossetia was predicated on a Georgian promise to let the Israelis use Georgia's airfields to mount a strike against Iran.

“The main problem for Tel Aviv, in making its threats against Iran at all credible, has been the distance to be covered by Israeli fighter jets, which would have a hard time reaching and returning from their targets without refueling. With access to the airfields of "the Israel of the Caucasus," as de Borchgrave—citing Saakashvili—puts it, the likelihood of an Israeli attack entered the world of real possibilities. De Borchgrave avers:

“‘In a secret agreement between Israel and Georgia, two military airfields in southern Georgia had been earmarked for the use of Israeli fighter-bombers in the event of pre-emptive attacks against Iranian nuclear installations. This would sharply reduce the distance Israeli fighter-bombers would have to fly to hit targets in Iran. And to reach Georgian airstrips, the Israeli air force would fly over Turkey.

“‘The attack ordered by Saakashvili against South Ossetia the night of Aug. 7 provided the Russians the pretext for Moscow to order Special Forces to raid these Israeli facilities where some Israeli drones were reported captured.’

“Reports of anywhere from 100 to 1,000 Israeli ‘advisers’ in Georgia do not bode well for the situation on the ground. With the Israelis already installed in that country, the logistics of carrying out such a sneak attack are greatly simplified. Israeli pilots would only have to fly over Azerbaijan, and they'd be in Iranian airspace—and within striking distance of Tehran.

“Faced with this fait accompli—if the Dutch are to be believed—the Americans seem to have capitulated. In which case, we don't have much time. Although de Borchgrave writes "whether the IAF can still count on those air bases to launch bombing missions against Iran's nuke facilities is now in doubt," I don't see why the defeat of the Georgians in Saakashvili's war on the Ossetians has to mean the plan to strike Iran via Georgia has been canceled. Indeed, reading de Borchgrave's riveting account of the extent of the Tel Aviv-Tbilisi collaboration, one finds additional reasons for all concerned to go ahead with it:

“‘Saakashvili was convinced that by sending 2,000 of his soldiers to serve in Iraq (who were immediately flown home by the United States when Russia launched a massive counterattack into Georgia), he would be rewarded for his loyalty. He could not believe President Bush, a personal friend, would leave him in the lurch. Georgia, as Saakashvili saw his country's role, was the “Israel of the Caucasus.”’

“Saakashvili, a vain and reckless man, now has even more reason to go behind Uncle Sam's back and give the Israelis a clear shot at Tehran. With this sword of Damocles hanging over the heads of the Americans, the rationale for a more limited, shot-across-the-bow strike by the U.S. becomes all too clear.

“After all, if the Israelis attacked, the entire Muslim world would unite behind the Iranians. If, on the other had, the U.S. did Israel's dirty work, with Tel Aviv lurking in the background, it would conceivably be far less provocative, and might even generate sub rosa support among the Sunni rulers of America's Arab allies. It's going to happen anyway, goes the rationale, and so we might as well do it the right way, rather than leave it to the Israelis, who have threatened – via ‘independent’ commentators like Israeli historian and super hawk Benny Morris – to use nuclear weapons on Iran's population centers.

Hello Charles:

There is a wonderful book on gardening that I highly recommend. It's called FOUR SQUARE GARDENING. You can garden in very small areas (4 feet X 4 feet) and you can have as many squares as you want. All vining plants are grown vertical.

Another good book is LASAGNA GARDEN. That one tells how to build up the soil very easily without digging. The concept could be added to the four square garden, which is what I am doing this fall. I just recently purchased a home with very little garden room, but I can utilize these concepts so I can have a great garden with more than enough vegetables to eat, can, and freeze or dry.

Proof of Jeremiah Unearthed in Jerusalem

The two, along with another pair, demanded the death penalty for the prophet Jeremiah in response to his plea for the king to surrender the city to the oncoming hordes of the Babylonian conqueror Nebuchadnezzer.

“According to Professor Eilat Mazar of Jerusalem's Hebrew University, who led the dig, the ancient Hebrew letters ‘are very clearly preserved.’

They exercised moderately, walking for half an hour a day. Each day they spent an hour practicing stress management methods such as meditation. Additionally, the men participated in support group sessions.

“As the study progressed, the men lost weight, lowered their blood pressure and cholesterol, and generally saw improvements in their health. Previous studies gave evidence of lowered prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels with dietary changes.

“Biopsies taken at the beginning and end of the study demonstrated some more significant changes. About 500 genes evidenced changes in activity at the end of the study. 48 disease preventing genes were turned on. 453 genes which promote disease, like breast and prostate cancers, were turned off.”

Thoughtful Commentary by Charles Wheeling

Just imagine, at least try to imagine. Few parents or grandparents are alive today to share their memories of those terrible years historians have labeled “The Great Depression.” So that you and I can just imagine, I will share a bit of history.

“The Great (Economic) Depression” was global, affecting the entire industrialized, civilized world. The hardships and sorrows associated with The Great Depression were largely unknown however and scarcely felt by people living in the primitive third-world. Poverty for the “primitive poor” was everyday normal. But things were very different elsewhere on the planet.

In the autumn of 1929, the legendary New York City Wall Street Stock Market crashed! At this moment I am reading the actual headline of The Brooklyn Daily Eagle, dated Thursday, October 24, 1929 (a framed reproduction hangs above my desk): “WALL ST. IN PANIC AS STOCKS CRASH.” Countless thousands of intelligent, wealthy persons, in America and abroad, were bankrupted overnight by the crash and lost everything they owned. More than a few committed suicide rather than face the “depression of The Depression.”

History reveals that The Great Depression reached its economic low point about three and half years later in 1932. I wasn’t around at that time and likely you were not on the ground either. My mother was though. She was a teen and the eldest of seven children. Her father, a 1917 immigrant coal miner from Birmingham, England, worked in Alabama coalmines supplying coal for the steel mills in Birmingham, Alabama.

During those Depression years, heart-wrenching photographs recall the haggard-faced thousands of American city-dwellers standing in long “soup lines,” begging day after day for a scrap of bread and nourishment. Multiplied thousands of “hobos,” fled America’s great cities, hopping trains and crisscrossing our nation, begging for meals and looking for any kind of employment they could find. Many left hungry and destitute families at home. Nothing about the brutal experience of The Great

Depression was imaginary for these people. For those who experienced it, The Great Depression was not a dream—it was a nightmare!

You should know that things and people were different 75 years ago. Seventy percent (70%) of Americans lived in rural America, many of them on farms. During the Depression, at least 70% of America’s population could garden, keep a few chickens and maybe a cow to feed themselves—not so with city-dwellers! For more than a decade, millions of families, in America and abroad, suffered privation! In Birmingham, Alabama, my yet to be mother, still a teen living at home with her parents and six brothers and sisters, at times went for days without a bite of food in the house! Sometimes a Good Samaritan would leave a loaf of bread and a few potatoes at the front door. My mother could never relate the experience without tears. Just imagine; at least try to imagine.

I hope that I am mistaken in my interpretation of prophetic Scripture, but I don’t think that I am misreading what the Prophets have written. I believe Bible prophecy reveals that the soon coming war between the United States, Great Britain and Iran is going to bankrupt America! Another global Great Depression is on the way, but this one will be A Great, Great Depression! It will be global and the entire industrialized, civilized world will soon be thrust into an unimaginable crisis (“The four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.” Daniel 7:2.)

“Beware the Ides of March!” Beware the three and a half years prophetically and historically typed, as our planet descends into hell. Beware the prophesied Beast that will soon rise to deceive and devour “the whole world.”

Today, America is very different from the America of 75 years ago. 75 years ago most Americans left their homes unlocked. Most Americans allowed their children to walk to school and to town—hardly imaginable today. Today the tables are turned. 70% of Americans are crowded into cities that are waiting to explode with unimaginable human fury and suffering. Today, even smaller American cities are being invaded by vicious gangs, druggies and increasing numbers of poor that can scarcely find enough food for a month.

When the economy collapses and there are no monthly checks from Uncle Sam, just try to imagine! Imagine angry mobs, looting and rampaging through city streets, taking what they need or want. Imagine lawless packs assaulting trucks as they attempt to deliver food, medicine and necessities to desperate city centers—trucks that will likely never arrive because they have been hijacked, looted and burned as a storm of rage sweeps across the land. Just imagine.

So where are the police? Hello! Katrina was America’s wake-up call for city dwellers! Okay, what about our National Guard? Hello! Most of them are away fighting mad Muslims in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Middle East, and “what has been will be again!”

Aren’t you thankful that you and your family are not living in or too near a large metropolis? Aren’t you thankful that you obeyed the warnings of Heaven and history, that you used common sense, and moved to a rural setting while you could? Try to

imagine the fear that will grip thousands upon thousands who will try to flee the coming fury but find no gasoline in the pumps. Think of those who will discover major highways blocked with fleeing-on-foot mobs, throwing stones, some waving guns, attempting to hijack anything with wheels and gasoline. Aren’t you thankful that you “got out of Dodge” before the coming war with Iran and The Great, Great Depression that will surely follow.

Just imagine the spiritual consternation of hundreds and thousands of sincere Christians, taught by thousands of sincere Shepherds to proof-text rather than context Bible teachings regarding the Great Tribulation and the return of Christ. Self-inflicted blindness is awful! Through the ages God’s people have always suffered persecution (tribulation). Christ, the Baptist and the Disciples suffered tribulation, but modern millions have been taught that they will be “raptured” and never experience such tribulation. Somehow they have failed to read Jesus’ admonition regarding the Tribulation time: “The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.” Matthew 10:24. Imagine sincere people waiting, waiting, waiting for deliverance, as the world sinks around them.

Just imagine, at least try to imagine, when this time comes, how many people would have appreciated an opportunity to read and heed insightful warnings, like these, written by a sincere Christian who claimed to have received the instruction below, by inspiration, 100 years ago:

“The work of the people of God is to prepare for the events of the future, which will soon come upon them with blinding force.”

“Unless we understand the importance of the moments that are swiftly passing into eternity, and make ready to stand in the great day of God, we shall be unfaithful stewards. The watchman is to know the time of night... The judgments of God are about to fall upon the world, and we need to be preparing for that great day.”

“God has revealed what is to take place in the last days, that His people may be prepared to stand against the tempest of opposition and wrath. Those who have been warned of the events before them are not to sit in calm expectation of the coming storm, comforting themselves that the Lord will shelter His faithful ones in the day of trouble.”

“I see the necessity of making haste to get all things ready for the crisis.”

“In the great final conflict, Satan will employ the same policy, manifest the same spirit, and work for the same end as in all preceding ages. That which has been, will be, except that the coming struggle will be marked with a terrible intensity such as the world has never witnessed.”

“Transgression has almost reached its limit. Confusion fills the world, and a great terror is soon to come upon human beings. The end is very near. We who know the truth should be preparing for what is soon to break upon the world as an overwhelming surprise.”

“It is often the case that trouble is greater in anticipation than in reality; but this is not true of the crisis before us. The most vivid presentation cannot reach the magnitude of the ordeal.”

“If in the providence of God we can secure places away from the cities the Lord would have us do this. There are troublous times before us.”

“The time is near when the large cities will be visited by the judgments of God. In a little while, these cities will be terribly shaken.”

“Erelong there will be such strife and confusion in the cities that those who wish to leave them will not be able. We must be preparing for these issues. This is the light that is given me.”

“For this reason I see the necessity of the people of God moving out of the cities into retired country (places) where they may cultivate the land and raise their own produce. Get out of the cities into rural districts, where the houses are not crowded closely together, and where you will be free from the interference of enemies.”

“ During the night season I was pleading with some families to avail themselves of God’s appointed means, and get away from the cities...Some were loitering, making no determined efforts. The angels of mercy hurried Lot and his wife and daughters by taking hold of their hands... Lot had too much of a lingering spirit... Those who obey this warning will find refuge. Let every man be wide awake for himself, and try to save his family...God will reveal from point to point what to do next.

“Again and again the Lord has instructed that our people are to take their families away from the cities, into the country, where they can raise their own provisions... Purchase a little piece of land where you can have a garden. God will help His people to find such homes outside the cities.”

“A great terror is soon to come upon human beings. The end is very near. We who know the truth should be preparing for what is soon to break upon the world as an overwhelming surprise.”

“The time is coming when we cannot sell at any price. Hoarded wealth will soon be worthless. Money will soon depreciate in value very suddenly when the reality of eternal scenes opens to the senses of man.”

“In the last great conflict in the controversy with Satan, those who are loyal to God will see every earthly support cut off. Because they refuse to break His law in obedience to earthly powers, they will be forbidden to buy or sell.”

“Now I plead with every soul to look not too strongly and confidently to human counselors, but look most earnestly to God, the One wise in counsel. Submit all your ways and your will to God’s ways and to God’s will. Spread every plan before God with fasting, (and) with the humbling of the soul before the Lord Jesus, and commit thy ways unto the Lord. The sure promise is, ‘He will direct thy paths.’ He is infinite in resources.”

Russia: Poland Risks Attack Because of US Missiles

MOSCOW—A top Russian general said Friday that Poland's agreement to accept a U.S. missile interceptor base exposes the ex-communist nation to attack, possibly by nuclear weapons, the Interfax news agency reported.

“The statement by Gen. Anatoly Nogovitsyn is the strongest threat that Russia has issued against the plans to put missile defense elements in former Soviet satellite nations.

“Poland and the United States on Thursday signed a deal for Poland to accept a missile interceptor base as part of a system the United States says is aimed at blocking attacks by rogue nations. Moscow, however, feels it is aimed at Russia's missile force.

“‘Poland, by deploying (the system) is exposing itself to a strike—100 percent,’ Nogovitsyn, the deputy chief of staff, was quoted as saying.”

“Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov dismissed that argument in a sharply worded barb Tuesday, saying Russia's ships don't need any permission to use the port.

“Many Ukrainians worry that after dealing with Georgia, the Russians might set their sights on Ukraine, which like Georgia is a former Soviet republic government that has angered Moscow by seeking closer ties with the West and membership in the NATO military alliance.”

“After stocks collapsed, home prices took off, making us feel rich all over again. So we continued saving less and spending more, creating the illusion that our living standard was still rising. In 2005 our personal savings rate went negative, but even that didn't slow us down, because our homes were still appreciating—and rising home values meant that household net worths weren't declining. (Don't be fooled by that saving-rate spike in this year's second quarter; it was probably a one-time event resulting from the federal stimulus payments.)

“Of course, we don't hear those assurances anymore. Stocks are back where they were eight years ago, and home prices are where they were five years ago. But personal debt is much higher than ever before, and average pay is still going nowhere in real terms. So now how do we live as if our living standard is still rising?

End of easy money.

“That's where the credit card reports come in. Last year, just as the subprime crisis happened, credit card debt took off. The home-equity ATM had been shut down, so people turned to the last source of easy money they had left, the most expensive debt on the menu, credit card borrowing.”

Foreclosure Filings Up 55 Percent in July

NEW YORK—U.S. foreclosure activity in July rose 55 percent from a year earlier as a slump in once-sizzling housing markets forced yet more borrowers to default on their mortgages, according to a monthly report.

“That means one in every 464 U.S. households received a foreclosure filing in July, the firm said. Bank repossessions (REOs) rose 184 percent year-over-year. Default notices were up 53 percent, and auction notices rose 11 percent.

“Among 230 metro areas tracked, Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida, registered the highest foreclosure rate.

“In California, one in every 182 properties received a foreclosure filing. Florida was third, with one in every 186, while Arizona’s rate was one in every 195 properties.

“Other states with foreclosure rates among the top 10 were Ohio, Georgia, Michigan, Colorado, Utah and Virginia.”

“‘I think the worst case scenario is that they continue in their pursuit of weapons of mass destruction,’ he said without hesitation. ‘Weapons of mass destruction are available to them now, particularly chemical and biological, [and] those are not hard to make. But the worst case scenario is, I think, that they have nuclear capabilities that within these terrorist organizations, within the Jihadist movement.’

“Boykin told me that based on everything that he had seen and heard during in his tenure at the Pentagon, he believes that ‘within two years, maybe three’ the Iranians will ‘develop a nuclear weapon, a deliverable nuclear weapon.’ Translation: 2010 or 2011. ‘We know that he [Ahmadinejad] has centrifuges spinning. We know that he has the technology. He has the scientists, and he certainly has the determination…. Ahmadinejad is a very, very dangerous man, in my view. I believe that the world should pay close attention to what he has said. Some would say, ‘Well, that’s just rhetoric.’ But let’s go back and look at Hitler’s rhetoric in 1933 and what ultimately occurred.’

“Given all that you know about the Ayatollah Khomeini and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, I asked, which one is more dangerous? For Boykin, it was not a close call. ‘I think Ahmadinejad is far more dangerous than the Ayatollah Khomeini because given that he now has more resources.’

“In your view, I asked, do you believe the West can successfully deter or negotiate with Ahmadinejad and his regime in a classic balance of power approach that worked with the Soviets?

“‘My view is that negotiating with Ahmadinejad is a waste of time.’”

“With the war drums beating louder every day and Israel and the US sitting still allowing Iran to build an arsenal of ballistic missiles capable of reaching all of Israel and most of Europe. We see Iran taking over Lebanon and shipping in missile that can reach all of Israel as well. And to think that Iran doesn’t have some nuclear war heads on some missiles would be naive to say the least.

“As you read this the largest group of naval war ships since the Second World War are headed into the Persian Gulf. While Russia is making her statement to the US not to build anti-missile bases in her back yard and making certain that Georgia understands that they will not allow her to join NATO.

“Does it look like war? It sure does and soon.”

Canadian ISPs Plan Net Censorship

“A net-neutrality activist group has uncovered plans for the demise of the free Internet by 2010 in Canada. By 2012, the group says, the trend will be global.

“Bell Canada and TELUS, Canada’s two largest Internet service providers (ISPs), will begin charging per-site fees on most Internet sites, reports anonymous sources within TELUS.

“‘It's beyond censorship, it is killing the biggest ecosystem of free expression and freedom of speech that has ever existed,’ I Power spokesperson Reese Leysen said. I Power was the first group to report on the possible changes.

“Bell Canada has not returned calls or emails.”

The prophet Daniel saw in vision…

“…another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, “arise, arise, devour much flesh. –Daniel 7:5.

Last Thursday, August 14, Time Magazine in partnership with CNN, posted this headline:

“The Bear is Back on The Prowl.

On the same day, a CNN interviewer addressing the Russian Ambassador to the UN, posed a question similar to this: “What’s going on, Mr. Ambassador? It appears that Russia has returned to her old expansionist ways!”

Smiling, even chuckling, the Ambassador’s reply was prophetic: “What do you think, The Great Bear from the North is about to rise up and devour its neighbors?”

Such amazing fulfillments of Scripture remind me of a quotation I read years ago. A Christian author urging a careful study of the prophecies penned these words:

“The prophecies of Daniel and John are to be understood. They interpret each other. They give to the world truths which everyone should understand. These prophecies are to be witnesses in the world. By their fulfillment in these last days they will explain themselves.”

Waiting for Islam’s Messiah

“But before the Mahdi's return, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad believes there must be global chaos—even if he has to create it himself.

“Whether it's his belief that Israel should be wiped off the map, denials of the Holocaust, obsession with going nuclear, or support for radical Islamic terrorist groups, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a man on a divine mission.

“To understand him, and that mission, you have travel to the small dusty village of Jamkaran tucked in a corner of Iran's holy city of Qom.

“Behind the Jamkaran mosque there is a well. According to many Shiite Muslims, out of this well will emerge one day their version of an Islamic “savior.”

“They call him the Mahdi or the 12th Imam.

“Ron Cantrell has written a book about the Mahdi. He explained, ‘The Mahdi is a personage that is expected to come on the scene, by Islam, as a messiah figure. He is slotted to come in the end of time, according to their writings, very much like how we think of the return of Jesus.’

“Shiite Muslims believe the Mahdi, a descendent of the Prophet Mohammed, vanished in the middle of the 9th century.

“Cantrell told us, ‘The 12th Imam disappeared, around the age of 9, with a promise that he would return and he would bring Islam to its total fruition as the world's last standing religion.’

“Enter Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Since becoming the president of Iran in August 2005, Ahmadinejad has emerged as the Mahdi's most influential follower.

“Cantrell said, ‘[Ahmadinejad] has stated that his mandate is to pave the way for the coming of this Islamic “messiah”.’

Low-carb beats low-fat in weight loss, cholestrol

“Carbohydrates have taken another hit. A new study finds that a low-carb diet results in greater weight loss and better cholesterol readings than a low-fat regimen that promotes a lot of grains and fruits. A Mediterranean diet that incorporates some of each diet yielded results that fell between the two, researchers in Israel report in the July 17 New England Journal of Medicine.

“By conducting a trial within a single workplace, the scientists managed to keep 85 percent of the study participants on their respective diets for a full two years, a coup among diet studies. High dropout rates have historically skewed the results of such studies.

“The team recruited 322 overweight people with an average age of 52 and randomly assigned them in roughly equal groups to one of the three diets.

“The Mediterranean diet had the same overall calorie limits, but participants could eat fats, mainly olive oil and nuts, in moderations. These dieters also ate poultry and fish but little red meat.

“ The low-carbohydrate group ate an Atkins diet, in which they could consume all they wanted, provided very little of it was carbohydrates. Protein and fat intake weren’t limited, but dietitians urged participants to choose vegetarian foods when available. All groups avoided trans fats.

“After two years, low-carb dieters had lost an average of 5.5 kilograms, compared with the 3.3 kilograms lost by the low-fat dieters. Mediterranean dieters showed results between t he two.
